School Visit by Class 1c of MS 3 Weiz - Bringing Science to Life!
July 2025
On July 2, 2025, we had the pleasure of hosting class 1c from MS3 Weiz at bisy GmbH. Following a guided tour through our labs, the students got hands-on experience — exploring the fascinating world of biocatalysis and microorganisms through interactive experiments.
It was inspiring to see their curiosity and enthusiasm in action. Experiences like this highlight how important it is to introduce young people to science in a practical and engaging way - and they just might spark curiosity in the scientists of tomorrow.
A big thank you for your visit!

First hands-on DigiLab workshop with TU Wien and UAB!
June 2025
As part of our DigiLab SFG (Ideen!Reich XS) project, the bisy team recently took part in a hands-on workshop on Design of Experiments (DoE) in Gleisdorf. Together with experts from TU Wien and Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, we explored new tools and approaches to accelerate digitalization in bioprocess development. Drawing on academic insights and their industrial translation, this workshop laid another cornerstone in our strategy to drive innovation through data- and model-driven experimentation. Many thanks to all contributors – we’re excited for the next steps in advancing bioprocesses and precision fermentation through AI, machine learning, and next-gen DoE!

Driving Digital Innovation in Biomanufacturing
May 2025
Digitalization is key to staying competitive in biomanufacturing. At bisy, we focus on optimizing microbial protein expression with innovative strains, vectors, and processes for efficient enzyme and protein production. Together with Novasign, we're developing a strategy for smarter, AI-supported experimental planning—cutting development time and costs. Thanks to the Human.technology Styria cluster for supporting this transformation. Let’s shape the future of biomanufacturing—digitally.

Raiffeisen Businessrun Graz
May 2025
Driven by motivation and team spirit, bisy GmbH joined this year’s Business Run in Graz. Alongside more than 9,200 participants from over 60 Styrian companies, 18 of our employees successfully completed the 5-kilometer course through the heart of the city.
Despite the less-than-ideal weather, the atmosphere was outstanding – marked by camaraderie, athletic drive, and good vibes. Afterwards, the team celebrated their strong performance with well-earned drinks and great company.

Long Night of Careers 2025: A Behind-the-Scenes Look at Biotechnology
April 2025
On April 10, 2025, bisy GmbH opened its doors to all those interested in biotechnology. In the morning, students from class 7A of the Gleisdorf Gymnasium gained exciting insights into the fascinating world of biocatalysts – and discovered the essential role microorganisms play in our everyday lives.
In the evening, from 4 to 8 p.m., visitors had the opportunity to learn more about our work through engaging presentations and guided lab tours, and to explore the diverse career paths available at bisy. A particular highlight was the hands-on stations, where guests could experiment with microscopes and pipettes – biotechnology up close!
We sincerely thank all guests for their great interest.

bisy hosts UPO Minisymposium – Showcasing the Future of Biocatalysis
June 2024
bisy GmbH hosted the UPO Minisymposium yesterday in Bad Blumau, Austria, as part of the EU-funded ROBUSTOOproject. The event brought together leading researchers to explore the potential of unspecific peroxygenases (UPOs) as powerful tools in industrial biocatalysis.
Presentations by experts such as Wolfgang Kroutil, Margit Winkler, and Angel T. Martinez highlighted UPOs' ability to perform regio- and enantioselective hydroxylations, synthesize ketones, carboxylic acids, epoxides, and even demethylate compounds – all with high efficiency.
Their robustness and use of inexpensive hydrogen peroxide make UPOs highly attractive not only for innovative pharma, but also for generics, flavors & fragrances, agrochemicals, cosmetics, and specialty and semi-bulk chemicals.

Featured in Businessmonat: “At our place, the strongest smell is yeast”
June 2021
In a recent Businessmonat feature, bisy GmbH is portrayed as one of Styria’s rising biotech innovators. Founder Anton Glieder shares his journey – from planting tree saplings as a child to founding a company that now develops custom protein solutions for industry and medicine.
Headquartered in Gleisdorf with a laboratory in Graz, bisy specializes in producing functional proteins used across pharmaceuticals, food technology, biomedicine, and plastics manufacturing.
At the core of the technology is the yeast Pichia pastoris – a microorganism genetically tailored to act as a molecular protein factory, producing precisely engineered biomolecules through advanced biotechnological processes.
